BlackRock wants exchanges to use its BUIDL token as collateral

The world’s biggest asset manager BlackRock and its brokerage partner Securitize, are in early talks with some of the largest global crypto exchanges including Binance, OKX and Deribit, about using BlackRock’s new BUIDL token (its money-market digital coin) as collateral for derivatives trades. Crypto prime brokers FalconX and Hidden Road already allow BUIDL’s use as collateral.

According to https://stomarket.com/sto/blackrock-usd-institutional-digital-liquidity-fund-buidl, the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) provides qualified investors with U.S. dollar yields by subscribing to the Fund through Securitize Markets, LLC. Through the tokenization of the Fund, BUIDL will offer investors important benefits by enabling the issuance and trading of ownership on a blockchain, expanding investor access to on-chain offerings, providing instantaneous and transparent settlement, and allowing for transfers across platforms. BNY Mellon will enable interoperability for the Fund between digital and traditional markets. The Fund invests 100% of its total assets in cash, U.S. Treasury bills, notes and other obligations issued or guaranteed as to principal and interest by the U.S. Treasury, and repurchase agreements secured by such obligations or cash.
