Aave Launches Official MCP Server for AI Assistants

CW37 Uniswap launched a dynamic-fee hook for stablecoin pairs. A Liquid Network exploit drained about 4,000 BTC, with 3,400 BTC later returned. Meanwhile, Aave launched an MCP server enabling AI assistants to access protocol data and prepare unsigned transactions.

Uniswap Labs launches StablePair Hook dynamic-fee

Uniswap Labs has launched StablePair Hook, a Uniswap v4 hook that replaces fixed fees with a dynamic fee on stablecoin pairs such as USDC/USDT and USDC/USDG. The hook measures how far a pool has drifted from its reference price and adjusts the fee on every swap: inside a tight band it quotes a fixed bid/ask spread, while swaps that push the price further away from parity pay no fee because they already hand the pool a favorable price. Swaps that bring the price back inside the band go through a Dutch auction, with the fee starting high and falling each block until a trader accepts it, letting liquidity providers keep more of the arbitrage value. The first pools are live on Ethereum mainnet with USDC/USDG and USDC/USDT. Stablecoin-to-stablecoin swaps on Uniswap reached $43.4 billion in Q2, more than the next three onchain venues combined. It is Uniswap Labs' first upgradeable dynamic-fee hook, following DualPool and Permissioned Pools.

Liquid Network hacker returns 3,400 BTC after draining ~4,000 BTC via a range-proof minting flaw

On September 6, Bitcoin sidechain Liquid Network disclosed that roughly 4,000 BTC (about $320 million at the time) — ~95% of its ~4,200 BTC reserves — had been drained from its federated wallet by an operator calling itself "whitehat." Blockstream said no private keys were compromised. The flaw was in the range-proof verification cache of Elements, the open-source software that Liquid nodes run on: the attacker could mint L-BTC with no real Bitcoin backing, then send it to settlement platform SideSwap, which processed a normal peg-out and paid ~3,996 real BTC from the federation wallet.

The attacker demanded, via OP_RETURN messages, that Blockstream patch the bug and confirm every node updated before returning funds. After Blockstream fixed it and replied with an on-chain signed message on September 7, about 3,400 BTC (85% of the haul) were returned at block height 965,950 — but 598.5 BTC (~$47 million) remain in the attacker's wallet, with no bounty ever agreed. Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet argues this looks more like extortion than whitehat disclosure. Liquid remains paused: bridges are disabled and exchanges including Bitfinex and BTSE have suspended L-BTC deposits and withdrawals. Other Liquid assets (USDT, DePix, RWAs) and the Bitcoin mainnet were unaffected.

Aave launches official MCP server

Aave Labs has launched the official Aave MCP server, letting any AI assistant that speaks the Model Context Protocol that does below on Aave V3 and V4 through a single connection.

  • Explore markets: Retrieve supported chains, reserves, available liquidity, protocol structure, and current or historical rates.
  • Review positions: Inspect a wallet's supplies, borrows, health factor, activity, and rewards.
  • Prepare actions: Simulate and build supply, borrow, withdraw, repay, collateral, reward, and liquidation transactions.
  • Use specialized capabilities: Work with token swaps, Aave v4 hub data, Savings GHO, and Aave DAO governance data.

The server works with ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and other MCP-compatible clients, so assistants call Aave directly instead of working from training data or third-party wrappers. Every transaction the server builds comes back unsigned: the prepare_ tools return a transaction request or EIP-712 typed data, and the user's own wallet signs it — the server holds no keys and cannot move funds. Reads cover markets, reserves, rates, caps and risk parameters, plus positions and health factors; transaction building covers supply, borrow, withdraw, repay, eMode, rewards claims and liquidations, with a preview_action tool that simulates an action and reports the resulting health factor first.
